It has a main drive shaft coming out one end and a smaller shaft out the other end for mounting an encoder or other type of position indicator.  The 2-pole motor speed would be good for rapid positioning while the 6 pole motor speed would be good for fine positioning.  The brake would lock it in place once the desired position is reached.
